Tapi Carpets and Floors Limited has made a bold move by acquiring the Carpetright brand, intellectual property, and 54 stores after the latter company entered administration. This acquisition not only enables Tapi to preserve 308 jobs but also allows them to venture into new areas that were previously untapped.

The decision to rescue Carpetright came after the administrators noted that the company had been facing tough trading conditions, primarily attributed to shifting consumer preferences and a decline in home improvement spending following the pandemic. By taking over several stores and assets, Tapi hopes to bring a fresh perspective to the market and cater to a wider customer base.

Regrettably, over 200 Carpetright stores across the UK have been permanently closed. Notably, the closed stores in south London include Bromley, Croydon (within Furniture Village), Dartford, Streatham, and Sutton. On the other hand, Tapi has acquired stores in Clapham Common, Croydon (Purley Way), New Malden, Teddington, and Wimbledon.

While the acquired stores will continue using the Carpetright brand for the foreseeable future, the remaining Carpetright stores in the UK have reopened their doors as of Friday, July 26. To support employees affected by redundancy, Tapi has taken the initiative to provide funding for a service that helps them navigate this challenging transition.

With this acquisition, Tapi Carpets and Floors Limited aims to redefine the industry and solidify its position as a leader in the market. As they embrace the Carpetright brand and expand their reach, Tapi is poised to provide customers with an enhanced and diverse range of products and services.
