A serious accident occurred on Parkhurst Road in Islington, causing emergency services to rush to the scene. The incident involved a collision between a motorcyclist and a lorry. The collision resulted in injuries to the motorcyclist, who was promptly treated by London Ambulance Service (LAS) paramedics.
LAS dispatched multiple resources to the accident site, including ambulance crews, an incident response officer, and London’s Air Ambulance. The swift response from LAS saw the first crew arrive at the scene within three minutes. The injured motorcyclist received immediate medical attention before being transported to a London major trauma center via road ambulance.
As a result of the collision, Parkhurst Road had to be closed in both directions for several hours. This closure led to the diversion of bus routes, including numbers 17, 21, 29, 91, 253, 254, 259, and 393. The closure and subsequent diversions caused significant disruption to the flow of traffic in the area.
Eyewitnesses on social media platforms, such as Facebook, reported that the lorry involved in the accident was a cement mixer. The collision prompted the deployment of two fire engines from Stoke Newington and Holloway Fire Stations, along with a Fire Rescue Unit from Islington Fire Station.
Efforts to clear the accident site were successfully completed by the emergency crews by 2.43pm. Authorities will continue to investigate the incident to determine the cause of the collision and ensure that similar accidents can be prevented in the future.
