In the highly competitive real estate market, property listings with detailed information have an advantage over others. To enhance the transparency and usefulness of property advertisements, OnTheMarket has incorporated supplementary data, including broadband availability and mobile phone signal strength.
Accurate and reliable broadband availability information is crucial for modern-day living. OnTheMarket has collaborated with Ofcom, the UK’s communication regulator, to provide predicted speeds for each property listing. These speeds are measured in megabits per second (Mbps) and help potential buyers or tenants understand the quality of the internet connection they can expect.
The broadband speed predictions are classified into three categories: Basic, Super-fast, and Ultra-fast. A Basic speed indicates a connection of up to 30 Mbps, suitable for general browsing and basic streaming. Super-fast speeds range between 30 Mbps and 300 Mbps, enabling smoother streaming, online gaming, and multiple device connections. For those who require lightning-fast internet, Ultra-fast speeds surpass 300 Mbps, ensuring seamless streaming, fast downloads, and uninterrupted online activities.
It is important to note that these predictions are based on the highest predicted speed among major broadband networks and are updated three times a year. While the predictions should give a good estimation of the connection quality, they are not guaranteed.
Alongside broadband information, OnTheMarket also provides data on mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength. Obtained from Ofcom, this data helps individuals determine the likelihood of having a strong signal at a specific property.
