As the summer holidays approach, Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is gearing up for a surge in passenger traffic. With an anticipated increase of 200,000 passengers compared to last summer, the airport is preparing to welcome approximately 3.6 million travelers between July 17 and September 1, 2024. This influx of passengers will be accompanied by an additional 2,000 flights, with around 24,000 aircraft expected to take off or land at BER.

Peak travel days, especially Fridays and Sundays, are projected to see between 80,000 and 85,000 passengers each day. To ensure a seamless travel experience, Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (FBB) has implemented various measures. The BER Runway program now offers several thousand slots daily, allowing passengers to book access to security control in advance. Additionally, July 1 marked the launch of BER Biometrics, a contactless facial recognition service aimed at expediting the boarding process. Several airlines have also introduced fast bag drop options, with over 120 machines available for baggage check-in across both terminals.

Despite the ongoing pandemic, BER will offer direct flights to 144 destinations in approximately 50 countries this summer. While Mediterranean hotspots such as Spain and Italy continue to be popular choices, travelers can choose from a wide range of destinations across the globe.

As Berlin and Brandenburg residents gear up for their summer getaways, Berlin Brandenburg Airport is well-prepared to handle the increased passenger traffic, offering enhanced services and a diverse selection of travel options.
